On August 9, Wang Xin, the technical leader of CALID Laying Hens products, made a report on the theme of “Lipid Substitution Program and Application Value in Layer Diet” at the 4th National Lipid Nutrition Forum. He analyzed the current problems faced by China’s egg industry, and proposed that adding balanced fats and oils to egg diets can take into account the intestinal health of laying hens and the precise nutrition of the diet. In addition, he also shared the application effects of Lidonen® Balanced Milk in reducing watermarked eggs, enhancing eggshell strength, improving intestinal health, improving feed utilization, and improving the stress resistance of chickens, which can effectively help improve the quality and efficiency of laying hens.
The following is a review of the highlights of Wang Xin’s report.
The overall level of laying hens farming in China is relatively low
At present, the overall level of China’s laying hens breeding is relatively low, there are problems such as low production level, high dead pans, poor egg quality and so on. According to statistics, more than 90% of chickens have different degrees of intestinal diseases, and intestinal health is the guarantee of production.
In addition, the irrational fatty acid nutritional configuration of laying hens’ diets easily induces fatty liver in laying hens. Epidemiological research results show that 40% of dead pans in caged chickens are related to fatty liver hemorrhagic syndrome.
To solve the above problems, it is necessary to start from both precision nutrition and gut health. Currently, there are many solutions to these problems in the field of animal nutrition, but the costs are high and the results vary. Nowadays, prevention is better than cure for animal health.
Starting from fatty acid balance can take care of both fatty acid precision nutrition and intestinal health.
The Value of Fatty Acid Precision Balancing Solutions
Fatty acid balance is the last piece of the puzzle of precise animal nutrition, and its value cannot be ignored.
From the nutritional point of view, the balance of the three major fatty acids can effectively increase production efficiency, improve product quality, and enhance reproductive performance; from the health care point of view, the balance of the three major fatty acids can improve intestinal health, enhance body immunity, and reduce die-off.
In other words, a balanced fatty acid profile allows laying hens to “die less”, “lay more” and “lay better”.
CALID Fatty Acid Balance Solutions– Lidonen® Balanced Milk
Lidonen® Balanced Milk is a functional balanced fat specially developed for replacing fats and oils in laying hens’ diets. The product combines three major fatty acid balancing and fat globule micro-emulsification treatments, which makes fatty acid nutrients more balanced and easier to be absorbed, thus helping to improve the efficiency of laying hens’ farming.
The balance of short, medium and long chain fatty acids in Lidonen® Balanced Fatty Acid can effectively improve intestinal health, the balance of omega-3/omega-6 polyunsaturated fatty acids can regulate the immune system, and the balance of U/S fatty acids can improve the utilization efficiency of fats and oils.
Compared with soybean oil, Lidonen® Balanced Milk can achieve a balance of the three major fatty acids, which is more conducive to intestinal nutrient absorption and maintenance of intestinal health in laying hens.
Application Study of Lidonen® Balancing Milk
Trial one
More than 1,000 86-week-old Hyland Grey laying hens were selected and divided into 2 groups, the control group was fed with basal diet, and the experimental group was fed with basal diet + 5kg/t Lidonen® Balanced Milk-5kg/t soybean oil, and the experimental period was 28 days. The indicators of egg production rate, feed to egg ratio and eggshell quality were tested during the test period (2023, the test unit was Wuhan University of Light Industry).
The test results showed that Lidonen® Balanced Milk can effectively improve egg production rate, reduce egg feed ratio, improve eggshell strength and Hutchinson unit, and reduce watermark score.
Trial two
20,000 Dawu Jinfeng at 660 days of age were selected, the control group was fed with basal diet, and the test group was fed with basal diet + 10kg/t of Lidonen® Balanced Milk as a full replacement of soya bean oil, the test period was 6 weeks (2023.06.12-2023.07.24).
Lidonen® Balanced Milk group increased the egg production rate by 2.7% and reduced the feed to egg ratio by 0.14.
Trial three
Selected 30,000 365-day-old Dawu Jinfeng laying hens, the control group was fed with basal diet, and the test group was fed with basal diet + 10kg/t of Lidonen® Balanced Milk as a full replacement of soybean oil, the test period was 60 days (Oct.-Dec., 2023).
Watermark scores were reduced by 45% and yield was improved by 65.5%; Hastelloy units were improved to grade AA; eggshell strength was improved by 8.5% and eggshell thickness by 5%.
Trial four
Selected more than 400 days old Beijing Powder No. 6 laying hens, the test scale was 700,000 birds, the control group was fed with basal diet (1% soybean oil), and the test group was fed with basal diet + 1% Lidonen® Balanced Milk (instead of soybean oil), and the test cycle was 30 days (2024/6/1-2024/6/30).
Layer consumption was reduced by 2g, egg production rate increased by 0.9% and feed to egg ratio decreased by 0.06. At the same time, laying hens had lower dead weight, lower dirty egg rate and improved egg quality.
CONCLUSION
- Lidonen® Balanced Milk improves egg production performance and prolongs peak egg production;
- It can improve egg quality, reduce watermarked eggs and increase shell strength;
- Optimizing the intestinal health care program to improve intestinal health and stool formation; reducing the incidence of disease, thus reducing health care costs;
- Multi-faceted enhancement of feed utilization, reduction of feed-to-egg ratio, and improvement of breeding efficiency;
- Enhance the anti-stress ability of chickens and reduce the mortality rate of chickens.
Lidonen® Balanced Milk can help to improve the quality and efficiency of laying hens, realizing one input, three benefits.
